My wife's 12 gal., unheated, planted Nano at school has what I am assuming snail eggs scattered all over the plants, rocks and some on the substrate. They are white in color about the size of a pinhead. Not perfectly round, more elongated bean shaped.

There is 1 Ramshorn, 1 Horned Nirite, and 2 Zebra Nirites. I have seen the typical egg clusters on the glass, which I was assuming was the ramshorn, but these white spots I haven't before seen. They are not in clusters and seem to just be scattered for no reason. I have pics on my phone, but no USB right now.

Any idea who may have laid these, and would the white color mean the are sterile?

thanks in advance and I will post the fair pics. later.

Forgot to add sizes of snails.

Ramshorn is about a dime and only one which came in as a volunteer.

Horned was about the size of a pea when added, hasn't grown much except the horns.

Zebras started out about pea size too, now about 1" long. Doubled at least in size in the 2-3 months they have been in there.

its the nerites. and they wont hatch

Will they eventually fall off the plants and rocks?

Will the fish (Tetras) eat them? How about shrimp?

Hmm sounds more like tetra eggs. That's something some fish do, scatter eggs. Although I could be wrong. I do not know much about nerites and how they lay their eggs. MsJinxzd (hope I didn't spell her name wrong) would know though.

they are nerite eggs from what he is describing. Msjinkzd pointed them out last time(god its been awhile :( ) i was there.

they look alot like a sesame seed correct?

Definitely nerite eggs. No, your fish won't be able to eat them. They're very hard to scrape on some hard decorations but they eventually dissolve on their own. It just takes time. I had nerites scattering their eggs all around and it pissed me off when they started laying a few more on my apple snails' shells.

BAM!!! score one for LP

They look exactly like sesame seeds....

Don't really mind them on the lace rock, but they look bad on the plants.
