So this lady at my office has a (i think) 2.5 hexagonal tank for her betta. she wants to get an algae eater for the tank, i told her to get a snail. what snail would be ok in such a little tank and wouldn't reproduce asexually?
I hate that she got the damn thing but at least I can spare some poor fish the fate of being stunted and what not.

Pomacea bridgesii or the famouse mystery snail gets to be just smaller than a golfball or an Asolene spixi which grows to be a little less than an inch across. both need a partner to breed. you can get a bridgesii at any pet store, they are usually brown. You can go to mrsnailz.com and get blue, pink purple, white and gold. he also sells the spixi snail.

Forget the snail and get an amano shrimp. 2.5 gallon's is really small. A snail will add more bio-load than the shirmp. The betta should leave the shirmp alone, amanos get to be like two inches.
