One day in my shrimp tank I noticed 2 brown dots on the glass. It turns out they were snails that found their way somehow to my tank (Probably from plants). Those 2 snails have grown and are about the size of a medium sized cichlid pellet. Yesterday and the day before I noticed them on top of eachother, I figured they were mating. Well, today I noticed eggs on the glass in various locations of the tank. They look like clear slimy substance with dots inside of them. I was reading around and read some snails lay eggs above the waterline, and I had noticed one of the snails was above the waterline, and I pushed it back into the tank.

Perhaps it was trying to lay eggs up there. Ive counted about 40-50 eggs total.

They look alot like this, if you can ID them let me know:

LOL! With pond snails, P_P, you'll have hundreds in a short time.:D I just have a knack for checking my new plants so thoroughly for eggs that the pond snails never had the chance to invade my snail tanks. I could spare a few in another tank for experiments though considering I am trying to update a list of snail-toxic and snail-safe chemicals.:shakehead

Well, when I saw the original 2, I didnt care about them. I figured they were no harm. I also didnt really think the odds would be that there was a male and a female.

The plants that were added to the shrimp tank came from my main tank and tey were the last of my plants. So these snails somehow survived and were transfered that way.

I dont see them much as a problem unless they harm the shrimp, thats my only concern. I can feed these snails to my fish. Too bad I dont have a puffer, because it would be good food for it. If they get out of control I may just round them up and sell them in bulk to someone.

These snails are asexual meaning they can breed without another mate.

Pond snails are very hardy specimens although MTS are nearly indestructible as most people kept dosing copper sulfate and other chemicals yet in the end, failed again as the MTS recovered their number. MTS for future reference can retract into their shells and lock themselves from toxins unlike most other snails.

Pond snails will not harm anything. It's the other way around in most cases. They are often the ones harmed instead by other species of snails, etc. These are not for sale. They are given away for those who want them for puffer or loach food.
