Found this terrestrial gastropod while walking. I'd never seen this type before and thought it worth investigating. Any ideas on species? I live in Western Washington.

I find them all the time, except mine have a more blue body. Dont know what kind they are though, would like to know.

They're really pretty. Every time I see a slug or snail I get the selective breeding itch...bring out that purple, it screamed today. That third pic is pretty true to color.

Are you joking, i think this all the time. I always have wanted to do it with the anoles down here. You will find ones with almost a fin down there back. And just keeping choosing ones with the largest fins and keep going.

Heck, yeah! Tell you what, if you give anoles fins, I'll make purple snails. And then, if it's legal, we can trade!

I should add: This snail appears unable to completely retract into its shell. Either it couldn't, or it was too busy not being afraid of me to try.

The ones I get can't retract either. The ones around here are really blue and I have even seen some purpleish ones. :D
