Snail Problem Please help

Howdy,

I generally like snails in my tank for biodiversity and control populations by regulating my feeding habits for the fish. However, if they eat plants, there is a problem and they need to go.

Depending on your tank size and stocking ideas, you could ge a group of Botias. Puffers are problematic since many eat snails only, ie. they starve to death once all snails are gone.

If you do not have invertebrates, you can use copper-based remedies from a store.

before i added clown loachs i would pick them out with a tank tool pliers with a remote grip this kept them under control and watch over feeding they multiply with excess food.

like harley said i also prefered snails just keep them in check..

They are eating my live plants so I want to get rid of them I have some in my cichlid tanks. My planted tanks are a five gallon with a beta and a 10 gallon with 2 corys and a pair of tetras
soon to be 20gal and a 20 gal with a pair of fancygoldfish soon to be 40 gallon.

I dont have room for anymore fish so I am trying to go the chemical route. I used a product called had a snail but it didnt work. as far a copper based stuff what are some called?

i tryed most products out there and none seemed to work you could do a tank strip down a solution of water and bleach 18:1 can be used to dip your plants and clean ornaments rinse well scrub the glass well eggs stick there.. then add some snail killer stay away from the salt products not good for your plants if i remember right..

damn trying to keep from doing that. Thanks for the responses and help I will see what happens in the next couple of days I am getting a 40 gallon for the fancy goldfish for christmas and moving the 10gallon inhabitants to the 20 and the beta will have the 10g as his new home so I will be tearing them apart then. Hopefully they wont destroy the plants too much before then so I only have to do it once. anyway thanks again I thought that is what I would have to do but wanted too see what you guys suggested sense I am new to live plants.
