I've been keeping fish for about 5 year now once a year i get snail and have to redo the whole tank. But today i bought some red-ramhorn and they have been great. But i bought some plants from pestmart sence no other lfs sells them so i took a chance. Its been about a week sence ive have them and now i have baby mystery snail i need a good med to get rid of them. FAST before the destoy my planted tank.

yoyo's are you're friend. they get rid of all snails (besides mts's which seem invinsible!!!) meanwhile they look good too. if you kill the snails off, you are going to have a bunch of rotting snails in your water which might kill off your other fish!!!

mystery snails don't ruin plants, they only eat dead plants and algae. And they are not usually transfered from one tank to another in plants, i'm suspecting that you have another type of snail, one of the kinds that infest tanks and eat living plants.

I keep mystery snails and giant pond snails, they don't breed often or fast, it's quite easy to control their population. And they are GREAT for controlling algae.

Mystery's dont eat plants, apple snails do. I once had 2 small snails come in some plants, had them for about 4 weeks then I squashed them with my syphon. fter that, about 1 week later, the whole tank was riddled with snails and infesting everything. I hated it. The only time I had none was when I completely dismantled the tank. Rotten Buggars.

no i have one type and that is red-ramshorn.but i dont want a huge problem i hate them the only one i do like is the red ramshorn

take out around 5-10 good sized red ramshorn snails and put them in another tank or a rubbermaid container with an airstone in it, then get 3 yoyo's. the yoyo's will get rid of all other snails for ya in about a week or two, then take the yoyo's back to the lfs and put the red ramshorn snails back in your tank.

yoyo's are about the best solution for a snail problem.

not permanently, since they would require a bigger tank when full grown, but they won't hurt anything besides the snail population lol
