I have a lot of mystery snails and some ramshorns.

(black, gold, ivory, etc.)

Why would their shells get an overall whitish cast, or white specks, on the shells? It does not look nice, but doesn't seem to affect them. What's going on?
I now feed them calcium week feeder pyramids for calcium, so I doubt it's a calcium deficiency.

It is probably your pH level. A low pH can cause shells to erode, and all the calcium in the world won't help you here.

put crushed coral in your filter and this will help both problems. add calcium and raise your pH. acidic pH eats away at the shell.

I agree. get some crushed coral in your filter or substrate.
