I feed my puffer a lot of snails.
Just curious if my Siphon is just weak or if snail shells are hard to suck out of the aquarium?
If so what are ways you all remove them or if you even attempt to.

My python hooked up to the sink has weak suction so it can’t suck up a shell to save its miserable life, whenever the shells gets noticable I get a length of tubing, half an inch works but an inch in inside diameter is much better, and just suck them out into a 5 gallon bucket. Simple.

If you want it to be really easy then go to a pool store and ask to see the hosing they have, likely they’ll have hosing in 2 inch diameter and that should be able to do all that you want.

This is what I have, all you have to do is cut it to size and you can suck up all the shells you want.

What sort of substrate do you have??? If its sand like substrate, get a metal strainer with holes large enough to let the sand through but small enough to trap the shells...

Thats what i used to use to scoop up any leftover shells from clams / snails / mussels etc...
