Hey guys,

So im chillin out with my PBass and Gar when all of a sudden i notice this thing on my Tank glass... Im like what the hell is that??? So i go over and its this little snail... So i look at him for a bit... and all of a sudden....

BAM!!! I count like 10 of these things..... Then i start to look closer and WHOLLY COW there are like specks (about the size of a ball in a ball point pen) all over the place.... The "bigger ones" are smaller than a pencil eraser so pics are NOT GONNA HAPPEN for me (dont have that great of a camera)...

So the question is.... WHERE THE HELL DID THEY COME FROM AND WHAT ARE THEY GOING O DO TO MY TANK!!!!

I have not done anything to my tank in months (as far as adding anything to it) so i dont know where they came from... They dont really have any color (like whiteis, or light gray)...

Any help would be AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks guys and gals....

Pyramid is correct but I am not bothered by snails to be honest. They don't harm anything but they can be unsightly in numbers. It's up to you to control your feeding rations to keep their population in check. I'd leave them alone if I were you or simply squish them and your fish will happily eat them.

Ok so I guess I dont really mind them in small #s, But i have seen tanks covered from side to side front to back... I have a HUGE tank (in my eyes its huge 220gal) I dont want them all over that thing... Also i have an FX5 should i be checking that more often now with them in the tank?

If you dont want them remove all you can maually. Then try to increase cleaning and decrease feeding for a little bit. They will drop down in numbers or may even disappear entirely.

Just check if the output flow seems weak or not. They're not really all that bad as you think. Many owners fail to realize only food supply can help sustain their population. This has been my experience. I combined several snails with my apple snails and my trumpets and ramshorns are having trouble sustaining their number due to apple snails outcompeting them for food. My trumpets in a goldfish tank (before I switched to barebottom) failed to sustain their population since the goldfish kept trodding on everywhere for food. I ended up with only about 15 trumpet snails to save the day I decided to remove the gravel despite looking thoroughly for more snails since I needed them for my sand bottom tanks.

i for one breed the things for my GSP but i do know the evil empire many refer to as petco have a fancy goldfish that they move around throw there tanks to clean up there snails. i noteced when i ask for a bunch of there snails for a good breeding genome. if you dont want the numbers to get out of control get a fish that would eat them. maybe your current fish will eat them
