where does everyone get their snails from for their GSP's. i went looking the other day at my lfs's but only found apple snails (i think) for like 3$ each expensive meal isnt it? i bought one because it was pretty small. i saw my GSP poke at it once then the next day it was dead (i think)?? it hadent moved an inch for about a week. when i ask at the lfs and told them what i need them for they look at me like im retarded(the same way i look at them). i just want to get a bunch and try and breed them in a rubbermaid container. what kind should i be looking for? right now he eats frozen blood worms but wont touch the frozen krill he just spits it out he seems kinda picky. i really dont want his teeth to fuse please help me thanks. he/she is about 2.5-3 inches now

Try breeding them yourself. Just buy a buch of them and toss them into a well filtered tank and there ya go. That's what I did for my GSP. You can also go to a store like Petsmart and see if they have a snail infestation. They usually do. Talk to the manager and tell them you're problem. They ususally just give them to you, considering they are a neusence. Check the plant tank too.

They can't sell them, which is why they give them to you. They don't have a number to key into the computer, nor do they have an inventory of them, so they aren't able to sell them. They usually will pick them out and throw them away, that's what someone there told me.

In a nut shell. Unless you're dealing with a complete douche.
When I was the Aquatic manager at Petsmart, I gave them away like hotcakes. But I made the customers pull them all out themselves.
Make them work for it...:D

ok so i went to my LFS today and got about 20 snails (3 for 99 cents) just out of random tanks .they gave me a few extra then what i paid for :D. i have them in a rubbermaid container about 2g with a small elite submerible filter rated for 5g and the lid on it with a small square hole cut out in the middle. will they get sucked into my filter? will i need anything else for these suckers to breed? light, heater, substrate, plants? i think their pond snails their all really small (round not pointy). i dont really want to have to buy anything else if i dont have to thanks.

I dont know if this is an option for you but I have an organic garden in my back yard and once a week or so I go thru it looking for snails and am able to collect 15 or so to feed to my fish. They love them big fat guys that are bout the size of a quarter. Just make sure if you do this that NO pestacides have been used where you collect them.
