snails helping or hurting?

Why aren't the snails eating the dead leaves? Are the snails the ones causing this?

They are pond snails that came into the tank on the plants. One tank also has ramshorn. They do get occasional light and water parameters are good

I don't use any fertilizer but the same plants in other tanks without snails are doing much better so is it the pond snails or the ramshorn?

Then there is one in that same tank that is doing just fine. Only difference is its not part of a mat/patch like the rest

Do I have to take these out before they die completely and cause an unhealthy spike of some kind by rotting?

Snails won't kill plants. Or harm them. Remove dead leaves or dying leaves.

Maybe I should rip all the patches apart so there is more root exosure? HELP LOL those stupid patches were not that cheap and I have a bunch of dying ones

Hey phil, almost all of the leaves are dead/dying. I need some water scissors. I have seen tank gardening tools at the Lfs but I didn't think I was hard core enough for them yet. Sigh

On a side note for you snail experts, how can I get rid of the pond snails but keep the ramshorn?
