I have brought in some new plants for the LFS. I have noticed a large number of common sails that are spawning. I was wondering if anyone had a sugestion to rid them from my tank. I have heard of people using different fish to do the job however I feel the RBP will kill them. Please Help!!

I have the same problem in my manuelli tank.

Once I bought really small loaches that lasted a couple days and got the snail population way down before getting eaten themselves. Now the snails are out of control again.

What you can try is putting a piece of squash or zuccinni in the tank overnight and when you wake up it will be covered in the snails. Keep repeating this each night till you notice some difference.

You can also try and get some assassin snails that will eat all the other snails in the tank.

As a desperate measure you can put some copper based meds in the tank, but that will kill all inverts and yoiu will have a hard time getting the coppper completely out of the tank afterwards.

Assassin snails as well.

My piranhas occasionally eat my snails.. but it isn't often enough to say they will handle the problem.

Thank you guys for the input. I will try the assassin snails first and see what happens. I will keep you guys updated to fill you in on the best way I find.

You should take some time to investigate the source. The snails must have a food source to boom up like that
