i never put any snails in my tank, i suddenly got babies poppin up left and right.. it could be from the piece of wood i put it, but it started showing up before i put it in.. any ideas on how they got in there??
the snail eggs had to be on something.. so if the driftwood came out of another tank, it's the most likely culprit. those snails are difficult to control, but they are great for controlling algae.. it's a trade off, too many snails or too much algae.
I prefer mystery snails or pond snails, they lay their eggs above the water line so you can remove them if you don't want baby snails taking over your tank.
the wood came straight from a pile, no previous tank.. i already some betterfly loaches for the algae since the clown pleco i bought is just interested in wood..
um adding salt did the trick for my friend. he had a massive infestation. it was from the wood. his canister was full of snail shells after the salt treatment. ick! well i guess the shells acted like ceramic rings remember to do water changes otherwise the dead ones will pollute the tank.
