I notice when. Clean my fx5 out I have tons of snails in the canister, which I flush out. None in the tank.
Like this for bout 8 months. Clean canisters bout every 25 weeks.

Is this bad for my filters, the snails that is?

Depending on the snail size, the shell of some them might get jammed in the impeller.
Try running some copper solution through the filter (while its disconnected from the tank) and that should solve the problem. Just make sure you give your filter a good rinse after to get rid of any dead snails and residue from any copper solutions for killing snails.

yes its not good they can kill your impeller especially trumpet snails they can and will ruin pumps and filters you can kill them with coppersafe

Yes cause they can clog them up and cause problems.

thanks for feedback guys. They r not trumpet snails, look little like pond snail, but only 2-3 mm max.

as long as they are not getting through the media in the center baskets, maybe add some netting of some sort, they will not get into the impeller or cause any real issues if dealt with in a timely manner
