I just picked up a nice looking Cardinal plant from my lfs and when I got it home i nocticed a few small snails. I picked off all the ones I could see, but my question is, is there anything I can soak the plant in for a while to make sure I've gotten rid of them? I'd prefer something that won't harm my fish once I put the plant in my tank..

Any ideas?

Though sometimes hard to find, I've heard potassium permanganate works quite well.

I'm not sure what a 'cardinal' plant is, but if it's a tougher-leaved plant, you could do a bleach dip instead. 1 part bleach, 19parts water. 20-30 sec should be plenty.

Umm how much is a part? lol a cup?

I have heard that soaking the plants in tap water will kill the snails. You need to soak them for about 45 minutes.

Thanks evercl for the advice!

The bleach dip is the method I personally would recommend using.

Evercl, the cardinal plant is usually associated with Lobelia cardinalis.
