Snails vs. Algae

I have constantly been fighting off black brush algae, or black beard, or whatever you call the ugly hair looking grossness that takes over your tank. I have tried different fish, medicines, physical removal and whatever else. Finally I think I have it under control. I have a snail problem though. I think the snails have taken out the ugly algae.
I don't want to experiment with the algae, but I know it's a whole lot easier to kill snails than it is to rid your aquarium of the algae.

Loaches love snails. and rosy barbs love hair algae. depending on tank size.. personally the snails in my planted tank.. meh they don't bother me. they eat algae, and clean up any extra food stuff. I would hate to compleatly erradicate them in my tank, so I don't bother with a loach. they love snails. not sure about catfish.. but unless you have a large system most catfish will out-grow a system as well as eat any small fish in it.
