Well, snails are pretty good at algea control i hear. Is ther eany snail i can put with a Green Spotted Puffer that it won`t kill?

NO. Puffers and loaches are absolutely not snail safe. Period.

They are also not so great for algae. Like I always say, snails' method of cleaning up algae is a lot like trying to mow your lawn while blindfolded. They also produce a lot of waste, they need to be fed fresh vegetables, and they require hard, high pH water. MTS are the only snail that does even a decent job of keeping algae under control, but I doubt a puffer would leave even those alone.

A better option is to determine the cause of your algae problem, or get a BN pleco.

Not really an algae problem just a few spots here and there, but a little algae is good isn’t it? the pleco i have is just a baby (about 2 inches long) and will hopefully pwn the algae, but I do regular water changes so meh. Oh and ty, didn’t know Loaches were snail killers they didn’t even go near the Gold Mystery snail I got while the “Big Puff” kept attacking the shell.

lol.. snail/shellfish are the main diets for puffer fish in nature. it's like keeping a bunch of rabbits with a wolf to control the dandilion lol.

Good info. Flaringshutter, loaches aren't as bad with snails as puffers. Keep in mind that loaches won't hunt snails like puffers. They just eat the ones that can fit in their mouths.

Why is this GSP is still in freshwater?

:iagree: quite a good way to describe it.

MTS should put up more of a fight. They have such hard shells, plus burrow in the sand, it would at least help keep your puffers teeth trimmed down while also giving them something to do sifting through the substrate. Be careful with MTS though, they are PROLIFIC, and before you know it your tank is overrun with them. In your filters, on the glass, very annoying.

MTS will not overpopulate a stable tank. Their population will only overtake tanks that have an excess of leftover food.
