Why are snails growing in my tank there are about 5 of them out of no where? they just crawl all over the glass? How did they get there and how do i get rid of them

Do you have live plants in your tank? If you do, that is where they came from.

What the hell is it snail season? I got the same problem from driftwood. Stupid little buggers are crawling up the glass and I take them out and flush'em. I sit back down on the computer and there are MORE RIGHT THERE!!!

Lesson number 1) Always soak your plants in aquarium water in a bucket before introducing them to your tank. 2) always prep your wood before letting it enter your tank. Both wood and plants should be treated like a new fish. Qt'ing them in there own specific ways is recommended.

Put a piece of lettuce or zucchini in the tank and night and tank it out with snails on it in the morning. Or get a botia or a puffer if you can.

I agree, probably plants. I would love to have some trumpet snails, my loaches kill them all.

Why are snails bad? I am on my third generation in three months. They help with the cleaning, eat fish poo, and you won't have a speck of algae anywhere. I encourage them by putting snails from high density tanks into low density tanks.

When the numbers get too high, they make good snacks for bichirs, oscars, and cichlids.

Theyre nearly impossible to get rid of once theyre in your tank.If you got the space some loaches are best.If not keep smashing or removing them and the eggs.If its mts no chance of getting rid of them. Most sa cichlids enjoy eating pond snails or ramshorns

Yep, to get rid of them keep removing the adults daily. The juveniles can not reproduce. If they are removed before they can reproduce there will not be a next generation.

Oh, and I wouldn't smash them. That will add to the bio-load. Any chance you can remove biological material from a closed system the better off you will be. And it isn't like they are hard to catch with a net :D
