Whats the big deal with snails? Why does everyone hate them in a planted tank?

Depends on the species. Many are loathed simply for their excessive reproduction rate. They become unsightly. Another problem, is that snails as a whole have been labeled plant eaters, which only a few species actually do eat plant matter. It is a shame, but that is just how things are. I keep ramshorns in one of my planted tanks, and have a very healthy breeding stock in the tank.

So ramhorns are good for plants, or dosent bother them?

How much do they cost?

I see them at Lfs all the time, go for a couple bucks, they are usually pretty cheap.

Alright thanks

Depends which type of ramshorn you are talking about. The common columbians go for $2-7, red ramshorns go for $3-7, and blue and pink ramshorns go for $5-20 each. I sell my columbians for $1 each for quarter sized snails.
