It's a brown snake with orange underside, it was probably just alittle larger than a nightcrawler. Anyone with any ideas to what it was? I'm terrified of snakes so we just caught it with a clear ziplock bag and released it.

First thing that came to my mind is a ringneck snake.........Not sure if they live that far North though cuz I don't know a lot about them........Did it look like this??

Thx for the responses

Did some readings and found out we have three species of Ringneck snakes:

Ringneck Snake Diadophis punctatus

Prairie Ringneck Snake Diadophis punctatus arnyi

Northern Ringneck Snake Diadophis punctatus edwardsii

Oh well at least I know it's some type of Ringsnake, just didn't know there were snakes like that around here:D
