Found this guy living under some rocks right next to my house. Any idea what it might be? It's a baby but aside from that I have no idea. It had a wideish head and looked like it may be a venomous snake, it struck at me numerous times. I looked up pics of Garter snakes thinking that was all it was but it didn't look much like any of them. It was still in the same spot this morning as we left it alone last night thinking it would go away on it's own, guess not. If it is still there tonight I'll get better pics before I catch and relocate it away from the house.

No worries, it looks like a harmless little Brown Snake, Storeria dekayii. Great to have around if you have a garden because they eat alot of slugs.

either a Dekay's snake or a northern redbelly snake. but probably a dekay. nothing to worry about either way.

Thanks guys, I think you're right on after looking at some Brown snake pics. It was still next to the house last night so I moved it over to some brush.

Got another pic too.

Good looking herp. Crickey little buggers, bloody tempermental too.. I haven't had the chance to see one or handle one personally though..

So you know they are temperamental how?
Really wondering where your information comes from as I haven't seen you say anything true yet...

I don't think I have ever seen this snake bite and I HAVE worked with them multiple times.
