snake tease

That's an irresponsible owner. Without getting into the ethics of feeding live prey, he is risking injury to his snake by teasing it that way. It could injure itself by trying to strike at the rat through the glass.

That's a perfect example of why live feeding gets a bad wrap.

There only thing wrong with feeding live is that the vast majority of the people doing it are idiots and then post videos and pictures of it on the internet. It just gives the anti-live people more ammunition.

There's no denying that feeding f/t or p/k prey is safer...100% safe...though, live feeding, when done properly, I would say is about 99% safe. The benefits of feeding live far outweight the small risk for me and a lot of other keepers out there.

My only response to those who see it as "unethical," then you probably also need to evaluate your own diet and see what kind of treatment is applied to the animals we eat......I promise you that it is much, MUCH worse...

:iagree: Feeding live, if done properly, is safe. My ratsnake eats f/t mice no problem, but my brb is much more finicky... he gets pre-killed or "pre-thumped" for lack of a better term. I know some people don't have the stomach to kill their pet's prey for them. I think that if you keep pets that naturally eat live prey, you should be prepared to handle it.

Oh, and I raise my own mice so I always know the quality of food and care they get before being fed to my snake.

ok all i think there is a thread already on the live vers frozen or pre whacked.Anyways i just thought it was interesting to see the snake so active, compared to a rtb or python that moves very stealth like and sneak atacks. This guy never looses focus.Do boas not see as well? And for the record,i dont agree with what they were doing, just thought it was interesting once you get past the idea of whats going on.Alot of vids show ppl feeding large snakes on the counter top and they strike and fall off the dang counter!Anyway i found these vids under snake bloopers that realy started from fiere skinks eating. You know how that goes. The only animal teasing in my house is hide and seak from the dog and scare the kitty, lol. My cats will jump a milion times at a foot tap and then they try to act all cool about it.Sometimes i get lucky and they are focused on doing something shady and i tap something loud and they jump like 4 feet.So sue me,lol.
