Would a fire eel be ok in a 60 uk gal (70 us gallons) tank with 2 channa bleheri what would be your say on it?I'm setting up a tank soon and I love fire eels AND channa bleheri ans wanna keep em' both.Any suggestions on what else I could have in my tank?(nothing too hard maybe somthing in the middle-im only 11):nilly:

fire eel would outgrow the tank but it would probably be ok for a grow out, bleheris are one of the more peaceful snakehead so i think it would be ok for a while but wait for one of the snakehead guys to make sure

I though fire eels needed 50 gals minimum I read that on about 4 sites?and they ere american so???

from what ive heard, the fire kan grow up to nearly 4feet.
50gallon is a little bit smal for such a big fish.

Jack, is there any other alternative for a fire eel?I think they're the most colourful tropical fish. What spiny eel did you have? And wht size tank was it in?

i have had many spiny eels, currently i have a 12" fire eel in a 180 which i've had for about 6 months. There are loads out there and mastacembelus sp. borneo python is starting to be imported into the uk more frequently which is in my opinion the most attractive spimy eel and reaches about 18" i think ( although they have only been recently been discovered so no-ones too sure at the moment) check out this thread

fire eel and bleheri arenot compatible
channa bleheri is a subtropical species and a fire eel is tropical
in the long run it is not going to work out due to different requierments of both species towards their habitat

try and get more bleheri instead
a 60 gallon is big enough for a group

Since you live in the UK, I'm not going to advise this.

Maintaining temperatures via heaters would make the temps constant year round, which would be disadvantageous to one of the fish.

Isn't there a range of temperatures which would borderline for sub-tropical and tropical? Like say, 22-24 degrees celsius? Or the lower end tropical temps?
