As some of you have seen I now own some rainbow snakeheads. 3 to be exact. I purchased another one yesterday.
with the three in the tank I noticed that one has made its way over to the others, litterally laid down on top of one of them and swam away. the one that was laid on followed. Then both of them flailed up thier heads (looked like a mouth full of food) then proceeded to sway back and forth to each other. Stopped and continued a few times. the the first one laid on top again and swam away. Again the other followed. I noticed them do this for about an hour. This has now happened with all of them, The one laying on top has done this to both but it seems only one follows aand joins in.
Think they are pairing up or testing dominance?
tough to find mating info.

Sounds like dominace or territory. How big are they?

They are ~4"

All three swim together but the two that were "dancing" never seem to stray far from each other.

this is an act of dominace. i have 5 bleheri and they do this quite frequently. However as you have seen bleheri can be pretty friendly with one another as well...they laying on top of each other is a way the relaxs. They flare there throats when they want an area to themselves. try to have as many hiding places as possible for them so they don't have to fight over the same spots

OK thanks. There are lots of places for them to hide. Today they seem to be sticking to their own spots. but if one takes off the others join in.
I am really enjoying these ones!! They are fun to watch.

OK so there are some changes in attitude. It seams that 2 have paired up and keep the single one away. They will even go over and kick it out of its home, not to take over but just to get it away from them. They seem to do everything together, especially when they attack the single one.
I sure hope they pair up for me. I would love some SH babies swimming around!!

HHHmmmm.........That may be a problem at this point.
Everything else has food size in it.
