Snakehead diseases

Viral hemorrhagic septicemia.....As I have observed some snakehead die from this disease...What are your views about it and how to avoid it....I have observed a single snakehead that have this disease from the moment it open its eyes and noticed something diferent about it ....He carries a virus in him...Being young,and still regenerating it didn't died immidiately but when its immuno systems fall down,the virus striked then...


Internal bleeding it is....It will scratch its body like crazy...Its in his blood and very contagious

some friends of mine told me about a condition in SH were in vein like things develop in their scales or in local terms " inuugat" though i havent seen one first hand, i dont know if its the same as this disease...

yes i think it is the same...the death is very gradual

As I have observed if your SH has this virus it is like having a predictable lifespan of only 2-3 years....I hope the Dept of Nat Resources from crofton,maryland have already a clue on how to control thier infestation in potomac to washington

If your SH make scratches on the bed as for like what cichlids do even at young age...then theres a big possibility that it carries the virus

another reminder, when your fish died of this disease..drain the tank dry, wash it clean with soap water then dry d tank under d sun. if not...you will be having another dead channa.

Is this virus only harmful to snakeheads and not other fish?
