Ive heard that Snakeheads are illegal in the US, but havent really been able to find any real laws or statutes on it.. Is it just illegal to introduce them into the wild, or to keep as well? I guess I dont see the harm in having one in a tank or a good sized pond, as it wouldnt be killing off any species that way. Also, what kind of trouble can you get into for having one? Just curious as Id LOVE to have one in my 3000G setup, but dont want to deal with the BS. Thanks!

So after reading through some of that link briefly, they are looking to kill every fish found? Isnt that kind of kitler-esque?? lol. I just dont see wiping out a species b/c of their aggression being a plausable thing. What harm is it going to do in a tank? Gotta love our government sometimes lol
Hi,I dont see snakeheads as super aggressive fish,nothing more than pike,bass or bowfin,only to mention a few!
The problem is there was a few people who dumped these into your waterways,what with the conditions being similar to that of there homeland,theve taken off, the is no natural predator for these,with that and because the can eat alot, and have a hell of alot of fry which they protect highly, they are taking over,the idea of killing if caught is trying to eradicate the problem,but its proving futile,i have recently read theyve given up trying to eradicate and instead,tag and realease to gather valuble data...Also they can surive for around 2 days on land so obviously can go from one water system to another, do not think about keeping one, did you not hear the news recently when a lad owned some snakeheads for years,didnt know about the ban,was taken to court,this was in the u.s.......
Did anyone see the special on you tube Snakhead an advasive species the biologist there confirmed that the Snakehead that were released do not pose a theat to the the local fish cycle is still intack the large mouth bass are still there and they have found all types of aquarium fish oscars, rainbows,and cat fish lima,s and in Maryland you can have the rainbow Snakehead. and that is were the problem began. this is all crap the fishermen love the snakehead down in DC and there saying is this how we make lemonade out of Lemons here we catch them for fun.
