so ive seen a couple of people with big community tanks. i have a 240 gallon tank with a silver arowana, bichirs, flagtail, limashovel nose cat and i wanna get a snakehead? is there any snakehead thats not agressive and wont outgrow my 8'x2'x2' tank? what about emperor snakehead?
thanks

You might get away with emperor's , or pleurophthalma, i have seen them in this sort of setup before. It's always best to keep them in a species tank however it can be done, just watch for agression,

Hi,yes like DC said it can be done but first of all, temp and water values should be the same, snakeheads are better off in a species tank.

ok well i keep the temp at 80-82 and doing weekly water changes. how big does the emperor snakehead get?

they get fairly big.. ^ don't think she will grow much more but 2' is on the small side I'd say..

hi can i ask something i really want a bichir, but right now i have a 5' dwarf snakehead, is it fine to add the bichir with the SH?

No , dwarf snskeheads (assuming your talking gachua) are territorial they'll kill tank mates if the can. If they can't they'll go into hiding.

On top of that the dwarf channa are subtropical and bichirs are tropical. eventually year round tropical temps will do in the channa and if given proper winter rest it'll be too cold for the bichir.
