Snakehead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea, I know, ever since the whole Crofton Pond thing!!! They're catching them (Channa Argus / Northerns) in Auqia creek here in Virginia, usually between 8 and 16" long. This spring I'll try my luck at cathing one. I will have one again!!!

I know it's illegal. But irresponsible? Why? I was just kiding bout keeping one (for now). People are catching and eating them. I hear they taste good. I had a set-up with native fish before (bass, sunfish, crappies etc.). That was a neat set-up. A lot of people don't realize how active, colorfull and good eaters native fish are. And, it's legal. If a creel limit on bass is 8, you can keep one in your tank and keep 7 when fishing. I will be patient with the snakeheads. They are a perminant non-indiginous species here now. It's only a matter of time until they are considered a game fish here in VA. Then I might consider housing one.

might be illegal but if you catch one and remove it from an area its not supposed to be then i cant see the issue with that everything illegal dosent always make since

Has anyone seen the vids on youtube regarding cobra snakeheads? There's guys catching huge cobre snakeheads in cannals down there. Neato!!!

Just so you know people from the DEP, Fish & Game and other government organizations do browse MFK. Even joking I wouldn't announce your illegal intentions if I were you.

not saying its not possible but not sure if they are going to spend the resources trying to track down a guy who is thinking about possibly taking a snakehead from the wild where its not supposed to be and keeping it in a tank now if we are talking about illegally importing fish and other wildlife thats another story
