I'm pretty sure Snakeheads are illegal to own and sell in America correct?

Found something funny today. I was at a Petsupermarket nearby buying some feeder shrimp and a Lima Shovelnose Catfish.

I had to wait a while because the shipment of livestock had JUST arrived when I got there so I had to wait for them to acclimate and all that stuff.

Meanwhile, I was talking to a clerk there about the Lima Shovelnose that had arrived with the shipment that I was later going to purchase. She said she thought someone had ordered it special, so she wasn't sure if I could buy it.

I asked, wait, you can special order things for me? She gave me a whole booklet of fish I could order, a lot of really nice stuff you don't usually find at these Petsupermarkets and what not.

I then I noticed on the ordering list, SNAKEHEAD, with a picture and everything. I asked her about it and she had no idea what it was.

Is Petsupermarket crazy or am I just crazy?

don't risk it if you'll planning on ordering snake heads. might be under cover Fish and game.

not likely, but possible. i wouldnt do it because you can get caught easily and fined big time. not as much if you have an asian arowana tho, fine for those in the US is $20,000

Undercover...that's laughable. It's probably a just a complete stock list of their distributor so you would not be able to order things that are illegal or out of stock.

Oh please, no way lol, I'd never get a Snakehead.

Even if they were legal, I don't have a pond, or big enough tank to properly keep one.

:iagree: i seriously doubt this is undercover work

Theyre illegal in the US and as stated is probably a list, but once the order is placed the fish will not be sent due to its illegal status in the states.

That makes sense, it was just really weird to see it on a Petsupermarket list next to baby Arowanas and Senegal Bichirs.

Why would the list say "snake head" and not "channa"?
