Well, the guy at my Lfs swears that he has personally caught bullheads in a couple different ponds in Philadelphia. He gave them to his buddy at the academy of natural sciences.
Also, I heard that Maryland lifted the ban. I'm not sure if this is true, but I plan on finding out.
if you search the snakehead forums they have a link to info about the lift on the ban. From what i can remember maryland allow the sale of the dwarf channa/s

why would they close it? it's a forum for snakeheads. I am not aware of captive breeding of other channas other than the gachuas. Most of the fish coming in, if they do get past the Fish and Wildlife agents at the airport, are from Nigeria, Thailand, Indonesia, and China. Most of them are for food fish, and are frozen, So far, there are no snakeheads allowed in the U.S.
I just sent an email to the Director of Fish & Wildlife regarding two kinds of fish. The farm-raised Asian Arowana, and the tropical, and dwarf snakeheads. I hope it does not get tossed away.
