Snakes and dinosaurs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol. Have you seen how vicious snakeheads are? Dude, the bichirs have no chance. They will either be badly mauled or killed.

Channa are fish that should be kept in species only tanks.
Not to mention that a large percentage of them are SUB-Tropical, and most of the Channa that are tropical are large and VERY nasty.

Channa Marulioides can have a docile nature, but they OFTEN suddenly turn nasty. That comes from experience. (I kept 60cm Maruliodes in with Bichirs for a while. I lost many good Bichirs for that error.)

Ok thanks for your help. But there is plenty of online video's of bichirs and pulchra :/

There's plenty of videos out there of people crashing their cars, don't mean you should go do it!
Those Pulchra videos you talk about are a prime example of people not researching or listening to advice from seasoned channa/polypterus keepers.
For starters, channa Pulchra are SUB TROPICAL. They need water temps of 16c-20c for most of the year, up to 22-24c for summer months. Bichirs are tropical, and can't survive well in these temps!

If you would listen to irresponsible videos of mixing, over advice from people that have kept both Channa and Polypterus obsessively for a long time, and even sussessfully bred them, then by all means do so...

Agreed with above, however if You are set on Channa and Polypterus, look to Channa Gachua. Smaller size and less aggression, have kept with Polypterus for years.
