so i just brought home a little snapipng turtle i found by a creek and i was looking on the internet and found they need constant water changes. i need a system to change the water. the tank i have is right next to a bathroom i was thinking i can just hook up a hose to the sink but what do you guys thinik?

i have a common snapper.i just use an aqua clear on its tank.water changes often you say?i dont do it for the snapper.

If it's next to a sink I would just set up a drip system and an overflow into the sink!

GOOD IDEA!.... how can i set up an overflow ino the sink i have a 30 gallon or a 29 long... i dont have the tank all the way full at all ? i have like 4 inches of water thats it

You would have to drill the tank in order to plumb it for an overflow unless someone has a better way!

If there's no fish in the tank you really don't need to change the water that often since they have to come to the surface to breathe anyway. Any fish you put in it will more than likely become food too.

i've had my common snapper for 2yrs and have only done water changes when the tank smells. and beleive me it will. they do breathe air so water quality shouldn't be a problem as far as i know and my turtle shows. i filled my 29L/H? 4-6 inches from the top and got him a floating log from petco. i got my turtle from a river, he's only ever aten like 5 fish. bu he loves crayfish. he's curently in a 250gl pond behind my house w/ 15 goldfish and he hasn't touched any

I would think a good coarse screen, or egg crate would do a fine job of filtering out snapping turtles. :D

I have a rubbermaid tote with a 5 gallon bucket half filled with scrubies and a plastic planter pot with holes drilled in the bottom on top of that with filter pads and filter floss in it. I have to break it down to fix a leak, I'll take pics if i can find my camera.

if you dont have plans of getting a 125 gal tank+, u should let it go before it forgets how to hunt
