MY ornate bichir seems to think my knife fish fins are delicious anyone else have this problem? I really like the bichir but the knife fish is way cooler so I'll probably end up keeping him. Is there any mellower bichirs? Just a heads up I'm in Florida and may consider selling the ornate

How big is the ornate? Most ornate are territorial, some are mild tempered. There are other polys the are more mellow, but even the mellow poly can be aggressive to other fish, every fish have different personality, if your looking for a mellow poly ill suggest palmas polli, delhezi and common senegal.
Idk if this will be compatible with knife fish since i never own one and dont know if they grow big.

Chunky little 2-3 incher, African brown knifes grow super slow and get around 12". He already is almost 5-6 inches quite bigger than the ornate

They are hit oriss it seems. If the knife is your favirote i would consider selling the ornate and getting some of the polys mentioned. Or you could try adding more polys to see if it helps spread the aggression.

Btw mine was a p.i.t.a but only towards other polys

Definitely depends on the fish. I've heard ornates can be more territorial than some of the other polys. If the knifefish is passive and constantly being beaten up, I might rehome the ornate if it is getting aggressive. Especially if you are really attached to your knife. African knives are cool. Or add other fish. Is this a new behavior of the ornate?

T thefredpit those would be some really cool knives! Do itttt lol.
