We just got a flyer at our school about a district-wide science fair. They are soliciting entries in a variety of categories, one of which is unusual pets!
I teach 1st-3rd science (among other things). I want to have some students make up some informational posters. Since my kids are a little young for internet research I am going to team up with the 6th-8th science teacher. I am thinking about having them make posters on the following themes:
Basic Facts (size, life-span, range, et cetera)
Taxonomy
Invasive Species (he is one, I had to get a permit from the ODFW to keep him)
After Snappy's unfortunate decision to swallow some acrylic tubing and subsequent vet visit I made a video of the operation, so we are going to play it as well.
Just having Snappy there in the flesh will be exciting (being the local celebrity that he is
), but I want o make it as educational and fun as possible.
Any other ideas on what to do?
