anyone here have experience with snooks? i posted in the cichlids section but only 1 response. how big do they get, how aggressive are they, are they your typical territorial cichlid or more like oscars?

Yeah they have that general oscar attitude. Just kind of in the middle. Can grow quite large (supposedly to 20"), so you want to make sure you can/will have at least a 24" deep tank in the future. They have mouths that allow them to extend out and serve as a vaccuum, so they can suck down fish you would not expect them to be able to. Just make sure you don't have fish extremely smaller than them. I have a male. Got him 2-3 months ago (my memory of time sucks) at 5", he is now 8-8.5". He is a PIG....and I love it 
lol, i just came back from my lfs, i picked up an albino pleco, but i saw a snook there that some one brought in, it was about 10 inches long, weird looking things.
Excellent info. thanks. i think i'm sold and i'm gonna try one. got a 125g with a pbass, a pike characin, and an albino oscar. sounds like they'll all get along just dandy - i hope.
