Has anyone snorkeled in the Grand Bahamas before? Pretty much I am wondering if taking a boat out to treasure reef or rainbow reef would be better or if taking a kayak trip (I kayak a lot and figured it could be my excuse not to be lazy) to Peterson's Cay would be the better snorkeling trip? I am only going to be there one day. I heard about Paradise Cove as well, but have no good info on it if anyone knows about that? Any other suggestions. I am only going to be able to get one trip out of my time there so I am looking for something nice. I have done plenty of reef diving/snorkeling around FL and kind of have higher expectations for the Bahamas.. (should I not?). It's my first time going there.

Thanks for any info and hep! =]

My first decent snorkeling was at Paradise Cove,Dedman's Reef.We swam out to the reef area, not sure if they have a boat for transport by now,but I remember seeing huge grouper and parrot fish there....Last summer we stayed at a resort on Fortuna beach which offered trips out to a point buy boat. That was the largest reef area I have snorkeled and the ride out was short but I could not see land by the time the boat stopped.I plan to return to both locations as well as check out others around Grand Bahama this summer.

Yeah as far as I know paradise cove you still swim to off the beach. I heard a lot of good things about the ones I was looking into so they may be worth checking out why you are there again! I ll have to google the area you stayed at and see what I can find. Thanks for the info.

Sumo- I will def. take pics and be safe =]
