I'm actually kind of jealous, we haven't gotten more than a dusting this year!

Put some foam-board insulation on the non-viewing sides and you could save a lot of electricity. I have several garage tanks that I can heat with 2-3 watts per gallon of heaters due to the insulation.

I have pond deicer in there the water is always above 70.

Mine is in an unfinished, unheated basement. Basement averages 55 deg during winter months. The front panel comes off when I get home at 5pm. 3 canister filters are wrapped in sleeping bags. Small led light strip goes on at 10am-10pm; main lights goes on 5pm-9:30pm.foam2.jpg

Yeah,my tanks are in my basement too.It doesn't get quite that cold down there but I have been thinking about installing a pot belly stove or some other kind of wood burner.

Yikes! You should get the really thick rigid foam panels if you want to go this route.

Dang. I should not be complaining. You guys are dedicated.
