My name is Sabrina and i am fairly new to fish keeping, but its going great so far. I would like to know a few different ways to sex a Snow White. [the albino mbuna] The name is Luna, bout 2-2.5in long and has 1 egg spot on the anal fin with clear ring around it.

Thanks in advance,
Sabrina

Welcome to the forum. Believe males get egg spots, males are usually larger than females, and the male’s fins come to a point.

Ur absoluetly right but my fish some are shy and i only seem to get the ones im not trying to get but here are a few photos...and i know people are judgy when its comes to overstocked but there doing good i have my 55 gallon but wont have it set up for a month so they be good til then anyways here are pics sorry for the extra haha

Older post but does address some concerns you having with sexing the mbuna.

.

I cant tell the sex, some females have egg spots too, how does it behave with the other fish?

Luna-i named him/her- but actually gets along with all the fish they have there moments of course but hes in there with a red blotched zebra mbuna another mbuna with the blue and black stripes ALONG the body[head to tail] and 4 juvenile convicts and a couple baby plecos and they all have there own little territories but all in all there really good its my most non aggresive tank.

I’m going to take a guess that it’s female but it is just a guess.
The rounded anal and dorsal looks female to me and some females will develop egg spots but usually males will have multiple not just a single spot.
BTW the striped blue and black one looks like an Electric blue johanni

Both males and females can have egg spots, the only reliable way to sex them is to examine the vent. If the openings look like oo it is a male and if they look like Oo it is a female. You may not be able to tell without a loupe and even then the openings may be the same size until the female lays eggs. By that time you will know without venting.

I never thought about applying the pointy fin rule to mbuna...I always think about haps and peacocks for pointy fins versus rounded. I'll have to go look at my mbuna now. ?
