i just got a 19' snowflake eel from my lfs for 13 bucks it was listed at 21 dollars but the young lady put the wrong price on the bag i got him in my 55 and i was wondering what i could feed it beside fish

I hope you are aware that these so called "freshwater morays" are in fact brackish and do better at higher salinity levels. If he is housed in fresh he will do fine for awhile and then he will stop eating.

Mine did better when I actually progressed it into marine with my Green Spot Puffers.

Actually there are two snowflake eels, the normal marine snowflakes (which are white with black snowflake spots (and yellow sometimes) or the FW snowflakes, which are normally G.Tile which are the brackish.

Try prawn or krill, I have a BW snowflake and he LOVES shrimp they'll love it.

I purchased a "Freshwater Snowflake" recently because I fell in love with the price and the idea before doing the research. After many questions to the dealer about the possibility of a freshwater snowflake, I acclimated him to my 50 gallon freshwater tank and set him free. He displayed much more of the giant gulping behavior we all know and expect periodically, in fact he looked like he was trying to suck air through a pillow After getting on the internet, I found that while Moray's can adapt to brackish and eventually fresh water, their true nature is a salinity that I couldn't introduce into my freshwater tank. I introduced him to my saltwater tank after a water change and lowering the salinity to 1.02, and by god the thing has been kickin' it for over a month! I went to another supplier of mine and he made the statement that he had never heard of a "Freshwater Moray" being reaclimated to a pure saltwater environment. This Eel is very light w/ light snowflakes, so is definitley not your standard saltwater snowflake. Is this really so uncommon, and do I need to continue feeding it live ghost shrimp? I never see it eat, as I understand it prefers night feeding...can't think of the word! For those of you who read all of this, thanks.:nilly:

MY gymnothorax tile is in full marine now at SG 1.024 with a true snowflake I bought him (G Tile) from petco in in full freshwater... they both eat any fresh seafood I put in there including shrimp krill smelt tilapia salmon scallops clam and the list goes on just try to feed him meaty food atleast every other day... and to everyone buring him for it not being a true FW fish he wasnt even refering to a Tile plus if you look he psted in the marine and brackish so read and pay attention before verbally vomiting on threads thanks..........
