I went to my LFS and asked if there were any eels that start fresh and than slowly move to brackish and than marine. He told me that the snowflake eel can because they are born in freshwater is this true will this work in my tank? If not does anyone know of other eels that may work in my tank

gymnothorax tile is the most common around here. Mostly sold as freshwater moray or"snowflake" they will do fine and brackish and I know some people keep them in marine conditions.

you're not very fond of those platies are you? Looks like it will do fine in and around those caves.

Not at all they were just in there to cycle the tank.......if a get a 20" snowflake you think those caves would accomidate him fine

When I had my Snowflake eels I started them with mollies so I could switch the mollies over as well. I also had pieces of PVC pipe in there for them which they seemed to love. They liked to hide a lot and ambush the fish from the pipes.

those caves should be fine. The ones I kept were great as long as they could "feel hidden" They don't neccassarily have to fit entirely inside it. Good luck to you and lets see some pics when you get it.

I'd say that would be fine.

Remember to change salinity gradually so you don't kill off all of your BB.

And do not trust that the fish in the store are in "Brackish" water. Most LFS around me claim that their water is brackish, when in reality it's 1 tsp of aquarium salt per five gallons, or even better just a sprinkle of salt per tank.
