So today I went to petco (yes, I realize there is a dislike for such corporate stores, but i hate to say it, there is no LFS nearby, and my parents are supportive, but they dont want to drive miles out to find such places) and saw a snowflake eel. It said it needed a 30 gallon, and was a carnivore. Naturally I will do research on eels later, but whats your personal experience with this fish????
Thnx

well it is a great starter Eel for someone very hardy in my opinion readily eats frozen and prepared meal's and has beautiful coloration on it. I do recommend at least a 30 gallon tank for it and lot's of hiding spot's as well as good water parameters

The one I had was hardy, and would eat ANYTHING. They will eat all your inverts though. Just make sure to keep the tank sealed, or it will end up bailing.

Alright thnx guys. I did some research, and I might get one. Also, what do you think would make good tankmates(i dont mind if it just has to be alone, either)

smaller fish might be considered food but I think if you can keep him fed well tankmates shouldnt be a problem. I keep mine with a clown, damsel and a blue tang.

alright cool, ill look into all of this(and save up more money). Also, what would be the general size for one in a fish tank(i hear 28in???)and what foods do they do best on?Like frozen or live?
And RyanP thnx for the info. Now what would be a suitable stocking suggestion for snowflake eels in a 30g?
