Step by step...Drakaris is getting a bit bigger and showing more color. Head is still pretty small (and in fact I'm still not 100% sure it's a male or female), but no worries, if it pops out later fine; if not that's cool too, for me personally coloration and character are more important. Very active and aggressive.

Love those snowflakes :) Especially on the back half of the body. Definitely beats a Carpentis. Reminds of some of the Gymnogeophagus. Stunner!

Thx J.H. -- ironically I had been looking for a Green Texas (due to them having a more normal kind of head) but they're not so easy to find here -- more than happy though to have run into this little thug (which in fact I at first mistakenly thought was a Red Texas).

Had to google Gymnogeophagus, cool looking fish, possibly even weirder head than a FH :)

BTW - this fish was $35 in Thailand, correct?

Yeah RD, they were initially asking about $45 but then quickly gave me a discount to $35 as I shop there quite a bit (and I'm sure they cleverly figured I'd have to buy a new tank to put him in, which I did:).

But you can walk into most any LFS here and see a good number of really nice looking young FH's, most all of which already have nice koks & coloring @ about 3-4 in.), the better ones of which go for about $30-$40 (and I see quite a few local Thai breeders selling near same quality on FB to overseas for 5-10 times that amount). However in the shops they're 99% ZZ's, Kamfas are quite rare and I've personally never seen a Golden Monkey, maybe the breeders sell both of these mostly online/overseas for bigger bucks.
