I'm so pissed. There is a LFS near me that is trying to get rid of a snowflake moray. It is so cute and makes me want to buy it. The price is 40 dollars but it has been 40 for a long long time and I'm pretty sure I could negotiate it down to 30. It is fairly small probably 25 inches long. It is too cute it is like looking at the puppies at an animal shelter. I'm seriously considering purchasing it. I am going to be emptying out a 150 gallon tank i have and converting it to a no filter, and skimmer tank. I am selling a couple of valuable items I have to fund a couple things such as this tank. Money and space isn't the problem. I have a problem: I'm moving out to a college in 2 years. They have tank size limitations. The biggest I could have would be a 50 gallon. Would I be able to keep this guy in a 50 gallon tank for the next 6 years? i could give up part of my bed and get a 75 gallon. I don't want to purchase this guy if I can't provide it a proper home for its entire life. So I need some advice.

I really wouldnt go any less than a 75 personally, but if you are just doing a specimen only tank you could get away with keeping him in the 55 just have enough cover for him to hide in.

Ok I might be able to do it then. I may end up going to a UC that I live by which happens to be a really good biology school lol. I think I would be able to keep a 150 gallon tank there and care for it because of the close proximity. I think it may be a go! It probably won't be 6 years I plan on graduating early so more like 3-4 years. I have to make plans for a new tank. I think I might reserve this guy.

Ok turns out it really isn't a snowflake its a yellow moray. I reserved it until I can get its tank set up and have it cycled. I'm going to get a tank in the range of 45 gallons to 75 gallons for now. I am going to have a mostly natural filtration system. So lots of LR and sea grasses. I will have a filter on it but not to completely filter the tank. Then some powerhead. As for lights I don't intend to grow corals so no high wattage lights. It will probably be a species only tank with the exception of the cleanup crew and possibly one or two fish quick enough to get away from its jaws. Right now I'm researching about care and finding a good sized hopefully used.

sounds fun. just hope you can keep the 150 on campus or the "UC" that you were talking about. While your cycling the tank, i would call and find out, see what they say.
