Is like crack cocaine to plecos? lol

Just picked up my first pleco for the tank. L200 Green Phantom. Anyone i tried some broccoli i had in the fridge, then romaine, and finally some spinach leaves...nothing nada. So now i am beginning to worry. Little guy is not eating.

I go to the store, get some squash. I throw a rubberband around it to a rock and drop it in. I have never seen a pleco swim faster 4' in my entire life. He is devouring it as we speak.

Why do they love squash so much?

High nutrient content, lots of soft flesh... it is simple and good.

The things you tried don't often get a great reaction, squash has more "juices".

Try honeydew melon also (the yellow oval one), this is similar in texture but with more juiciness.

Mine have never been keen on green leafy stuff either...

The more solid and sweeter stuff like cucumber, Zuchini (squash is an overgrown zuchini) and mushroom seems to be much more popular.

Dont forget to try a bit of meatier food as well, mine like a whole peeled shrimp to chew on occasionally.
