After reading through some really good information I want to make a short list of the things I have planned to incorporate into my very first marine aquarium. Please feel free to criticise the list so I can be better prepared for when I finally have the spare cash to put into getting the equiptment.

20G long tank- Check
Lighting - 10,000k + actinic globe - Check
HOB filter that will be stuffed with macro algae to filter out nitrates- Check
Around 10Kg of LR- Not check (Ill see how the tank fills out)
A bag of aragonite - Not check
A good skimmer - Not check
Heater - Check
Power heads - Not check

So this is my list for stuff I need, then of course theres the clowns I want to put in... so basically Im looking at around $350 AUD to get the stuff I need, which I will have because uni is almost over and I have 3 months to work

Ive been reading that its best not to heavily mechanically filtrate a FOWLR tank because of the detrius trapping problems and have been told to go for instead a high quality skimmer.

Is my list ok?

Your list is fine mate except for one more little item a q.t. tank. It's the most important bit of equipment.

what kind of fish did you plan on keeping?? good idea to do a QT tank also but i know a lot of ppl who dont. i have also seen these same ppl lose a lot of money. use your imagination lol
