Serious about both. The water is very hard. We had to use RO for all softwater species we sold in a lfs I used to work at. And, sadly, all FW river rays are on the verboten list in CA.

My friend bred his motoros in so cal, using straight tap water. I wouldn't call that worthless.

I filled my tanks straight from the tap too. I also had a whole house water softener by Culligan running.

Promoting illegal activity is a quick way to get banned from the site. So, I won't do it. Ultimately, it boils down to the responsibility of the hobbyist.
