If u cant tell from my sig i have the utter pleasure of being a walmart pets associate on 3rd shift. Of course anyone thats been in there has seen the dead carcases, canabilism, sick dying fish, and the best of all the 6 or 7 stuck to the intake So dumb me, I start out with fish from my store. Wish I had've known how weak neons can be>>>>>0-20

So anyway I finally wise up, head over to my LFS, which we only have the one we are so small. So the 1st couple times Im greatly impressed with their service. I guess most stores will test water for free, but I was really grateful, not knowing what I was doing. So yesterday I go back to get some water tested. Walk over to check out the stock, while I'm waiting....



So I look at this one tank>>> Blueberry tetras & Strawberry Tetras

Well I dont wanna be rude about it, so I tell the owners son I have a question. I ask him, "Aren't these fish dyed??" He says "Yeah" like its no big deal

So now I'm reluctant to buy anything from their again.......

What would you guys do??

I work for a PIAA petshop, if I ever saw a dyed/tattoo fish in there I would firstly shoot the owner, secondly shoot the person who ordered it, I don't understand why it's cool to have neon coloured glass catfish, "I *heart* you" on a ryukin polka dots on local goldfish, THERE ARE NO PURPLE GOLDFISH!


sorry but I really have issues against people that do this, hell, I even hate flowerhorns and alot of "import" goldfish. It makes petshops look bad because the life of the fish is limited.

I have to agree! The biggest petshop in Phoenix has these painted fish. Of course I still go on occasion but if I have a choice I will shop elsewhere. It's a shame cuz this place is huge and has everything. Thos in Phoenix know what i am talking about

It seems that the wal mart humor i originally had in my sig wasnt as funny as I thought.

Without the proper equipment, training, and time allowance even those of us who care about fish at Wal-Mart are helpless to make any changes.

The fact that Wal Mart becomes the #1 supplier for virtually every product they sell, puts the burden of responsibility on the shoulders of our leaders to help to protect the fish keeping hobby. Please help us to make the Wal-Mart fish department a better place.

now I really think walmart sucks

We get a couple posts a week about dyed fish, bad conditions in large store chains, and employees who do not have a clue. There is no need to create a thread for every single person that had a bad experience, it is nothing personal, it's just we have too many posts like this. Use the search function and you will understand what I mean.

You know what you do if you do not like a store? You go somewhere else.
