So about 6 months ago, I picked up a 3" jardini from the local fish store. I set him up in my bedroom in a 20 gallon tank, along with two small channel cats...Well, he wasnt even with the cats for about 5 minutes, and he killed both of them when I walked out of the room. He then spent the next month and a half alone in this tank.
He got to about 7" and I moved him into my fiance's 55 gallon in the kitchen. In that tank we have a 12"+ albino oscar, a big upside down catfish, jade goby, brussel nose pleco and two parrot fish. For the first few days, I cautiously watched my jardini, waiting for him to attack someone, but they day never came. he spent 2 months in this 55 gallon, and didnt even chase a single fish...so I decided to step it up.
a few weeks ago (now 10-11") I put him in my 125. I have a 22" silver in there, three Florida gars (smallest is 13", biggest is 18" full grown), a 12" Jag, 12" tire track eel and a 13" pleco. At first, my biggest gar would follow the jar, and nip at him...again, i watched closely for a few days. I was really worried about mixing the arowana's together, with such a size difference. However, they are now buddys and swim together. Still, the Jardini is harmless so far. I gave them some feeders 4 days ago (I only give them a dozen or so feeders once every few months for a little treat) and he wouldnt even attack the goldfish.
Do I possibly have one of the rare jaridni's? I have a buddy that works at the fish store I got him from, and he told me the jardini I bought, was the worst jardini they have ever had as far as aggression went. Maybe we went through his aggression spree really early? Maybe its because I have always had him stocked with larger fish then himself? I am not sure.
