so yesterday.. i seen this 4inch oscar for a good price and i thought hey.. i want one btw it was ( 5.99 Cad ) anyways when i put it in my tank... it kept getting chased by my veja's ( also around same size as oscar ) then.. out of no where my jewel.. cichlid came to protect my oscar and scared off the veja's it was pretty funny and since then my jewel cichlid sticks around by my oscar and protects it whenever the veja's or my other cichlids.. try to attack the oscar.. Just thought id share with you guys : )

jewels are mighty aggressive too

Yes very funny. Jewel cichlids are jerks! I am very surprised its defending the oscar, thats neat. I wonder what the jewel is getting out of it. Maybe future protection from the viejas?
