All of these eels at the lfs where supposedly Tiger Eels. I was pretty sure there were a couple that were different so I made sure I got one of them. At first I thought the differences may be minimal (when they were really hiding) but now that they are all out swimming around I'm almost sure 1 is not a Tiger eel. I've looked at a ton of mfk pics tonight and I'm not quite finding it. I'm thinking maybe it's because this one is so young and less developed. But it is clearly different than the 2 Tiger eels. I've had a larger TT before and I'm starting to wonder if this might be a baby TT whose pattern isn't quite there just yet. (He's about 5 inches btw)

Thoughts? I know the pic isn't great but my phone is all I have and I can't convince him to sit still long enough for a proper K-mart portrait. :)

I have 2 tire tracks. One has a minimal pattern, while the other has a heavy, tire track pattern. I can't see it clearly, but I tend to think your eel is a tire track.

Actually, I have a few eel pics on in my MFK album.

I really hope we're right. My TT was my favorite and I've never been able to find another one in my area since he died. The more I look at this guy the more I think it's a TT. The body, colors and behavior are different than the other 2 new Tigers. You don't notice so much at first but once you see them side by side the differences are obvious. Man, I'm gonna be stoked if this turns out to be my new TT. Time will tell.

So I still am not sure if this is a TT or ZZ but it's quickly becoming my favorite eel. The Tigers are cool and I am seeing my "snowflake" eel out and about much more in the last few days but there is something about this other eel that I really like. I figured I'd give them a few days to get adjusted and then tonight I tried to hand-feed him for the first time. He was kind of out in the open and he looked interested but then went and hid. I could still see him so I moved the food over his hiding spot. He came right out and took it three times. I guess I was expecting that to take a bit longer but it was cool. He acts like he owns the place....but the Tigers do too. So far there have been no problems with 4 eels in there together. I wasn't sure how they would get along.

Definitely doesn't look like any pics I've seen of Peacock Eels. I'm almost 100% sure at this point that it has to be a TT or a ZZ unless there is something else very similar that I've never seen.

Edit....I took 5 or 6 more pics of him tonight. He was happy to come to the glass (maybe looking at the phone...maybe not..who knows) and hang out for a while. But all the pics sucked because he wouldn't sit still long enough for them to not be blurry.

tire track. 100% just not sure if it's a patterned belly or unpatterned belly.

Its a zig zag eel the light color on the top of it gives it away they will only grow to 5''-6'' max
